40 Days Postpartum Love

Nothing is more precious than a new born baby and the forth trimester is as sacred as the first three.

There are cultural ways and practices of postpartum care than live as memories in our blood and bones. Ways of nourishing the Mother and the child that are still practiced in many cultures around the world. From grandmother to mother to daughter, the ways of loving mother and child we’re passed on through living example. Love was shared in teas, warm broths, elixirs, stews and allowing mama to rest and recover.

However, in our new and busy world, these ways have been pushed aside and nearly been forgotten. Postpartum for most women has become a pressure cooker of stress, exhaustion, isolation and even a a rush to “get back to work” for many. The good news, all is not lost or forgotten and we have a great opportunity to practice the old ways as new ways that we can pass down to our daughters and sisters.
